Instagram\/Sari Beth Rosenberg<\/p>\n Here\u2019s a look at four influencers that CJR confirmed to be in the covert chat<\/a>, along with others who were part of a group that spawned it.<\/p>\n Sari Beth Rosenberg<\/p>\n Public school teacher Sari Beth Rosenberg \u2014 who also works as a digital content strategist for the American Federation of Teachers \u2014 touts that she educates about \u201chistory behind the headlines\u201d to more than 420,000 followers across several social media platforms.<\/p>\n Rosenberg, aka @saribethrose, is part of Mamdani\u2019s group chat, telling CJR researchers that she views herself as providing information that\u2019s no longer easily available as local news dwindles.<\/p>\n Rosenberg is in a group chat where about 200 online creators get talking points from the Mamdani administration. Nile Berry \/ Instagram<\/p>\n The influencer\u2019s audience is primarily 25- to 40-year-old men who work in finance and real estate, the CJR study reported.<\/p>\n Berry, 34, also received direct access to Mamdani, posting he met with the mayor to discuss the administration\u2019s \u201cBlock by Block\u201d housing plan <\/a>to build 200,000 housing units in the city.<\/p>\n But Berry claimed he\u2019s not a mindless Mamdani booster, noting his criticism of the mayor\u2019s city-run grocery store proposal<\/a> and rollout of a pied-\u00e0-terre tax<\/a> on luxury second homes.<\/p>\n Berry claimed in the group chat that he met with the mayor personally to discuss the \u201cBlock by Block\u201d housing plan. Instagram\/urbanexplained<\/p>\n \u201cSometimes I\u2019m pro what the mayor\u2019s up to, other times I\u2019m outwardly critical of it,\u201d he said. \u201cTo their credit they are holding on to people who are not always in alignment.\u201d<\/p>\n Diego Le\u00f3n<\/p>\n A former preschool teacher turned Bronx lifestyle creator, Diego Le\u00f3n boasts nearly 46,000 Instagram followers for his @dandyinthebronx handle. His content typically combines menswear, Boogie Down businesses, travel, food and Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n Mamdani speaking with Diego Le\u00f3n \u2014 a Bronx lifestyle influencer who goes by @dandyinthebronx on Instagram. Diego Le\u00f3n \/ Instagram<\/p>\n But Le\u00f3n, 40, also did a paid city Department of Sanitation promotion, according to the CJR report.<\/p>\n In an April 1 Facebook post he told his followers to vote<\/a> in Mamdani\u2019s \u201cMunicipal Madness\u201d bracket for what New Yorkers most want cleaned up in the city.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m voting to Clean up Illegal Dumping right here in Soundview,\u201d he said on the video. \u201cEvery fix on the bracket is getting done eventually, but the winning neighborhood gets their project completed by the mayor himself by his 100th day in office.\u201d<\/p>\n Le\u00f3n seen at a Mamdani press conference in City Hall. Instagram\/thejosevilson<\/p>\n He told CJR researchers that Signal chat group members do not simply want to be associated with Mamdani but want to \u201cask good questions\u201d because they care about the city \u2014 and maintained he has not been paid for his coverage.<\/p>\n In a February video <\/a>promoting Mamdani\u2019s universal childcare expansion<\/a>, Vilson, 44, asked the mayor who his top 5 favorite rappers were.<\/p>\n Non-New Yorkers<\/p>\n The Creators4Zohran group that spawned the Signal group chat includes several influencers who aren\u2019t even New Yorkers, but often fanboy and fangirl online over Mamdani.<\/p>\n Southern California resident Josh Greene, 26, boasts 460,000 followers for his @joshtheprogressive Instagram account.<\/p>\n California influencer Josh Greene is active in the Creators4Zohran group. Instagram\/joshtheprogressive<\/p>\n Greene has history of getting paid for social media posts about politics, with The New York Times reporting<\/a> at least seven candidates or aligned groups did so during the last campaign cycle \u2014 including about $21,500 from Tom Steyer\u2019s California gubernatorial campaign.<\/p>\n
