A murder mystery is unfolding in Queens after police said a man was found stabbed to death in a parking lot \u2014 but how he got that injury and what may have led to his death remains unknown.<\/p>\n
Neighbors who live on the typically peaceful block of 87th Street in Ozone Park were stunned by the death of a man right in their backyard. Police sources told NBC New York a 59-year-old man was found unresponsive on the ground early Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
He was found on the ground of a parking lot, behind a blue Subaru that was left with its doors open and alcohol bottles inside.<\/p>\n
EMS who tried to revive the man found at least one stab wound to his torso. He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he died.<\/p>\n
Police have focused their investigation on the blue vehicle in the parking lot, but so far have not come up with many answers as to what may have happened.<\/p>\n
Laurie Cohen, a longtime neighbor of the victim, told News 4 he had lived in the complex where he was found for at least 30 years.<\/p>\n
“I never had a problem with him. If I had a problem, I would knock on his door and he was always helpful,” Cohen said.<\/p>\n
Cohen said she could hear screaming from the apartment earlier in the morning, but couldn\u2019t make out what was said.<\/p>\n
“I heard the girl screaming. I didn\u2019t know what she was saying because it was 5 o\u2019clock in the morning. I closed the door because I asked the cops what happened and they didn\u2019t give no information. So I figured maybe there was a fight,” Cohen said.<\/p>\n
Cohen’s home health aide, who said she also knew the victim, said it was surprising the victim was found in the parking lot behind their building. She said it was unusual to them because he never parked back there.<\/p>\n
The victim’s identity had not yet been released.
