QUEENS, New York (WABC) — An American Airlines flight aborted takeoff at LaGuardia Airport Thursday morning after the pilots reported a bird strike.<\/p>\n
The plane was still on the ground and was traveling nearly 140 mph when the pilots rejected the takeoff at 8:20 a.m.<\/p>\n
The Federal Aviation Administration said American Airlines Flight 392, a Boeing 737-800, was headed to Chicago O’Hare International Airport.<\/p>\n
The FAA briefly issued a ground stop at LGA following the bird strike.<\/p>\n
The plane returned to the gate, and the FAA will investigate.<\/p>\n
