Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s wife admitted she fired off \u201cmany\u201d emails to Trump-supporting family members begging them not to vote for him in last year\u2019s election \u2014 and has since cut ties with her right-wing relatives. <\/p>\n
Molly McNearney \u2014 the head writer and executive producer of \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d \u2014 told the \u201cWe Can Do Hard Things\u201d podcast that she felt deeply betrayed by relatives who backed President Trump, saying their vote was effectively a vote against her TV-host husband<\/a> and family. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve sent many emails to my family, like right before the election, saying, \u2018I\u2019m begging you. Here\u2019s the 10 reasons not to vote for this guy. Please don\u2019t.\u2019 And I either got ignored by 90% of them or got truly insane response from a few,\u201d McNearney said on Thursday\u2019s episode<\/a>, which she appeared on with Kimmel. <\/p>\n Jimmy Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, appeared on the \u201cWe Can Do Hard Things\u201d podcast Thursday. <\/p>\n \u201cIt hurts me so much because of the personal relationships I now have, where my husband is out there fighting this man, and to me, them voting for Trump is them not voting for my husband and me and our family. And I unfortunately have kind of lost relationships with people in my family because of it.\u201d<\/p>\n The TV writer said she was \u201cangry all the time\u201d at certain aunts, uncles, and cousins for helping elect Trump, yet claimed she still feels \u201csympathy\u201d for them, calling them \u201cdeliberately misinformed.\u201d <\/p>\n She added she\u2019s now tighter with family members who align with her politically. <\/p>\n McNearney admitted she sent many emails to family members begging them not to vote for President Trump. Richard Shotwell\/Invision\/AP<\/p>\n The couple\u2019s appearance comes about two months after Kimmel\u2019s late-night show was briefly yanked from the air<\/a> follow his Sept. 15 monologue, claiming that Tyler Robinson, accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was likely linked to the \u201cMAGA gang.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d the comedian told his viewers during the controversial segment.<\/a><\/p>\n The appearance comes nearly two months after Kimmel\u2019s late night show was briefly yanked from the air.
