{"id":338885,"date":"2026-09-05T16:32:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T16:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/338885\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T16:32:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T16:32:10","slug":"fox-business-jackie-deangelis-sues-whole-foods-after-nyc-dog-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/338885\/","title":{"rendered":"Fox Business&#8217; Jackie DeAngelis sues Whole Foods after NYC dog attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Fox Business anchor says she was mauled by a vicious dog while shopping at a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/31\/lifestyle\/whole-foods-shopper-slammed-for-bringing-dog-to-hot-bar\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Whole Foods<\/a> in Manhattan \u2014 and is suing the upscale grocery giant.<\/p>\n<p>Jackie DeAngelis, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/11\/23\/giving-thanks-for-a-new-york-city-that-comes-together\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">co-host of \u201cThe Big Money Show,\u201d<\/a> claims she was bitten at the Whole Foods at 10 Columbus Circle in September 2023, according to a complaint filed Aug. 20 in Manhattan Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>The dog chomped on the financial correspondent\u2019s left hand, police told The Post. By the time cops arrived, the black pit bull and its owner had fled the store. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.50146628;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"40649656\" width=\"886\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/fox-news-financial-correspondent-jackie-139472979.jpg\" alt=\"Jackie DeAngelis posing with her arms folded.\" class=\"wp-image-40649656\"\/>Jackie DeAngelis says she was attacked by a non-service dog inside of a Whole Foods in 2023.  Stephen Yang<\/p>\n<p>DeAngelis, 46, underwent hand surgery and has been left \u201cpermanently disfigured,\u201d with limited mobility  and unable to perform certain tasks, the suit said.<\/p>\n<p>She blames Whole Foods, arguing the dog was not a service animal and should never have been let in.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wholefoodsmarket.com\/customer-service\/topics\/stores\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">store\u2019s policy<\/a>, regular pets are strictly prohibited from coming inside, but service animals are an exception in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Whole Foods] failed to reasonably enforce its own policies, practices and\/or procedures concerning animals entering and remaining within the subject store,\u201d the suit said.<\/p>\n<p>She is seeking unspecified damages for emotional distress and her mounting medical expenses.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DeAngelis, a breast cancer survivor, graduated cum laude from Cornell University with a bachelor\u2019s degree in Asian studies and history, before graduating from Rutgers School of Law.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"40649662\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/whole-foods-columbus-circle-evacuated-21124261.jpg\" alt=\"A photo of the Whole Foods at Columbus Circle. \" class=\"wp-image-40649662\"\/>Whole Foods allegedly failed to properly intervene and prevent the attack. <\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining the Fox Business Network in 2019, she spent over a decade at CNBC, where she served as the network\u2019s chief energy correspondent. <\/p>\n<p>Fox declined to comment.
