Residents of an upscale Queens neighborhood are enraged over a brazen serial squatter who moved into a local $1.1 million home \u2014 and it\u2019s not the first time he\u2019s pulled off the scam, according to a report.<\/p>\n
Accused con man Vernon Glass parked himself in the million-dollar home in the quiet, tree-lined community of Bayside more than two years ago, after the 2018 death of elderly homeowner and longtime resident Richard Klibschon, ABC Eyewitness News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n Incensed locals called the cops, reach out to their elected officials and even went to court to try to boot him \u2014 to no avail. <\/p>\n Accused squatter Vernon Glass allegedly took over a million-dollar Bayside, Queens, home in March 2024 and has refused to leave. Tom Suozzi told the outlet. <\/p>\n \u201cA fraudster is wrecking the quality of life for the entire neighborhood. While it\u2019s not a federal issue, we all need to do everything we can do to right this wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n The home at 2340 205th St. had remained vacant after Klibschon, who lived alone and had no family, passed away, according to the report.<\/p>\n But that changed in March 2024, when neighbors first spotted the unwanted occupant who moved in.<\/p>\n A man at the home Sunday kicked a reporter for The Post off \u201chis\u201d property and lashed out at local residents, outrageously claiming that the \u201conly thing you should be reporting on is this racist ass block.\u201d<\/p>\n The home\u2019s elderly longtime resident died in 2018. ABC<\/p>\n The man living in the home as been described as an \u201cillegal occupant\u201d in court papers, with residents reporting that his presence in the quiet neighborhood makes them \u201cincreasingly apprehensive, uneasy and very concerned.\u201d<\/p>\n But despite their best efforts, the residents have yet to get him evicted.<\/p>\n It\u2019s not the first squatter scam Glass has allegedly pull off, Eyewitness News noted.<\/p>\n
