GEDDES, N.Y. — The butter sculpture at the 2026 Great New York State Fair was demolished on Tuesday morning. The first day after the fair concluded.

Now, all 800 pounds of butter will be taken to Noblehurst Farms in Lynnwood, N.Y., where it will be recycled through an anaerobic digester that converts it into renewable energy. It will power the farm and the local community.

Jack Clapper of Noblehurst Farms said recycling the butter sculpture is a good way to eliminate food waste. He noted that his farm tries to divert around 15,000 tons of food waste a month.

“As Jim Nance would say, ‘It’s a tradition unlike any other,'” said Clapper. “We’re very proud to be the official recycler of the butter sculpture and we’re very proud to work with the American Dairy Association North East.”

This year, the famous butter sculpture inside the Dairy Products Building at the Great New York State Fair was titled: “250 Years of American Traditions: New York Style.”

It featured a few standout spots in New York State. That included the scoreboard at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, N.Y., where the Baseball Hall of Fame is located, the Empire State Building in Manhattan, the front gates to the Great New York State Fair and the Ferris Wheel in Geddes, N.Y.

It also featured a cow and an old-school milk jug. It was also adorned with red, white and blue symbolizing America 250.

It is the 24th consecutive sculpture built by sculptors Jim Vector and Marie Pelton. It took 11 days to sculpt. There have been 58 butter sculptures in the NYS Fair’s history.

The 2026 Great New York State Fair concluded on Sept. 7 after 13 days.

The 2027 fair is scheduled to begin on Aug. 25, 2027.

GEDDES, N.Y. — The butter sculpture at the 2026 Great New York State Fair was demolished on Tuesday…

[6
9,11,10,49,51,50
post-340803","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-new-york","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-headlines","tag-new-york-news","tag-new-york-state","tag-new-york-state-headlines","tag-new-york-state-news
["GET
