This fall\u2019s new stores are a study in contrasts: There are the behemoths, like a 9,400-square-foot Herm\u00e8s store coming to Williamsburg and a 20,000-square-foot baby emporium in Soho. Then there are the niche shops, which this season feel particularly niche, like a women\u2019s boutique where tape-measure bows adorn blazers, a Chinatown spot selling see-through digital cameras, and a beauty outlet that only carries minis.<\/p>\n

Get a trim at upscale barber Tuft in the front of the store, then pick up pieces from Stone Island, French running brand Satisfy, and Korean line Post Archive Faction in the back of Third of June<\/a> (801 Greenwich St.), a boutique situated on a still neighborly stretch of the Village.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Manual<\/a>, a line of cameras and film that A24 has used to shoot behind-the-scenes movie footage, is opening its first store (85A Allen St.), which will carry Y2K-esque see-through digital cameras, disposables, and film along with photo zines.<\/p>\n

Bookworms can browse new and used works at Red Hook Books<\/a> (123 Coffey St., Red Hook), or take a bookmaking class, or attend a \u201cWake Up With a One Act\u201d morning, when coffee from neighboring caf\u00e9 High Beam is served while a short play is read.<\/p>\n

Those hunting for well-seasoned band tees, \u201990s basketball jerseys, and leopard jeans can flip through the racks at Flamingos Vintage Pound<\/a> (4 St. Marks Pl.), the Barcelona-founded shop where clothes go for $17.99 a pound.<\/p>\n

Massimo Dutti<\/a>, the Spanish fastish-fashion line beloved by the Euro-summer crowd, will open its only New York store (and second U.S. store, after Aventura, Florida) in a Michael Bargo\u2013designed space (575 Broadway).<\/p>\n

Y-Y<\/a>, a line of upcycled and ready-to-wear women\u2019s clothing known for its pin-tuck taffeta pieces and blazers with bows made from measuring tape, opens its first Lower East Side store (33A Orchard St.), where it will also carry a selection of vintage Chanel, Dior, and Chlo\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Babylist<\/a>, the popular registry site, is opening a 20,000-square-foot showroom (477 Broadway) with city-specific setups \u2014 mock brownstone entrances, sample sidewalk surfaces, and small-apartment-size nurseries among them \u2014 for parents to test out strollers and cribs.<\/p>\n

Posse<\/a>, the line for Capris and linen minidresses (392 Bleecker St.), and Bond-Eye<\/a>, the line of crinkly bathing suits (375 Bleecker St.), are the latest influencer-favorite Australian brands to open on Bleecker Street, just down the street from fellow Aussies Two Hands and Aesop.<\/p>\n

J. Press<\/a> \u2014 the line of menswear founded at Yale in 1902 that appointed Rowing Blazers\u2019 Jack Carlson as its president and creative director last year \u2014 is moving its shaggy sweaters and collegiate ties from the Yale Club Building into a new space (340 Madison Ave.).<\/p>\n

The high-end outerwear brand opens its largest global flagship in the former home of FAO Schwarz (Moncler<\/a>, 767 Fifth Ave.). Shoppers can try on skiing gear and apr\u00e8s-ski fits surrounded by glass displays that look like frozen waterfalls and a large sculpture by Ugo Rondinone. Flagship-exclusive parka patches, including a yellow cab and an apple, will be available, too.<\/p>\n

The French house is opening a massive space (130 Berry St., Williamsburg) designed in the spirit of a traditional craft workshop. Shoppers will enter Herm\u00e8s<\/a> through a courtyard and find two floors filled with the brand\u2019s silk scarves, perfumes, jewelry, bags, womenswear, and menswear plus window displays by Brooklyn-based artist Christina Zimpel.<\/p>\n

Marfa Stance<\/a> (801 Madison Ave.), maker of the statusy reversible puffers worn by the Butterfield Market set, opens a neighborhood shop. La DoubleJ<\/a> (18 E. 69th St.), J.J. Martin\u2019s Milan-based collection of fortissimo-scale printed silk clothing, opened its first U.S. store next to Birley Bakery. Downtown turned uptown girls\u2019 clothing brands S\u00e9zane<\/a> (1045 Madison Ave.), Cult Gaia<\/a> (761 Madison Ave.), Guest in Residence<\/a> (1061 Madison Ave.), and TWP<\/a> (845 Madison Ave.) join Madison\u2019s flock of younger fare. Meanwhile, British menswear line Dunhill<\/a> (821 Madison Ave.) will join Paul Smith (929 Madison Ave.) a few blocks from Thom Sweeney, which opened in June, to form a semi\u2013Savile Row. Initio<\/a>, a Parisian fragrance line, opened its first U.S. shop (784 Madison Ave.), where visitors can enter the \u201cFeel Lab\u201d and strap on a headband that measures brain activity in response to sniffing samples.<\/p>\n

Res Ipsa <\/a>opened its first Brooklyn store (289 Court St., Cobble Hill), where it will stock one-of-a-kind workshirts made from vintage quilts, patchwork camp shirts made from lightweight linens, and kilim loafers.<\/p>\n

Worn by Travis Kelce, Justin Bieber, and Chris Hemsworth, Amiri<\/a>, the L.A.-based line of men\u2019s, women\u2019s, and children\u2019s clothing and accessories, opens its Soho flagship in an Art Deco\u2013inspired space (71 Greene St.) complete with a chandelier by Milano design and glassworks studio 6:AM.<\/p>\n

London-based wedding-dress shop the Fall Bride<\/a> opened its first U.S. location (45 Main St., Ste. 318, Dumbo), where brides-to-be can find pieces from British and Australian designers like Lola Varma and Harriette Gordon that are exclusive to the store.<\/p>\n

BeautySpace, formerly known as Space NK, is opening Little Luxuries (872 Broadway), where you can buy mini-size products from Oribe, Osea, and Sisley.<\/p>\n

Judi Rosen<\/a> departs Soho to find a larger home for her collection of denim in the Lower East Side \u2014 next door to the tailor she sends her customers to \u2014 where she\u2019ll host art openings and classes (136 Orchard St.). Paula Rubenstein<\/a>, whose antique textiles drew shoppers to her downtown locations for over 30 years, has moved into an appointment-only space in the Brooklyn Navy Yard (63 Flushing Ave., Bldg. 209).<\/p>\n

Founded in Warsaw, Magda Butrym<\/a> brings its rosette dresses and crochet going-out tops to a Soho space (170 Mercer St.) designed by Stockholm studio Stamuli.<\/p>\n

For both longtime crate diggers and Gen-Zers buying their first vinyl, Sweet Peanut Records<\/a> (463 Amsterdam Ave.) on the Upper West Side is where shoppers can find new and used \u201960s jazz albums, Broadway soundtracks, and disco tracks. At Very Friendly Music<\/a> (610 Dean St., Prospect Heights), shelves are stocked with mostly used vinyl, cassettes, and CDs spanning punk, metal, electronic, and funk; a full-service recording studio in the back of the store is available to book. Collectible jazz, global, and underground music is on offer at Signal Records<\/a> (1254 Myrtle Ave., Bushwick), a shop originally from Chicago.<\/p>\n
