{"id":343239,"date":"2026-09-10T21:46:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-10T21:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/343239\/"},"modified":"2026-09-10T21:46:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T21:46:08","slug":"news-12-bronx-bronx-school-of-hip-hop-welcomes-first-freshmen-class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/343239\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Bronx | Bronx School Of Hip Hop Welcomes First Freshmen Class"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The Bronx School of Hip-Hop welcomed its inaugural freshman class of about 100 students.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The school at 1600 Webster Ave. aims to use the five elements of hip-hop to teach traditional school subjects.<br data-rich-text-line-break=\"true\"\/>Other courses include audio production, digital media and financial literacy.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The school is the first of its kind in New York City.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The building is also heavily influenced by music, artwork and tributes, which are on display throughout the halls, featuring artists like Lauryn Hill and the Notorious B.I.G.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Each year, the school plans to welcome a new class, eventually having grades 9 through 12 within the next four years.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">It\u2019s one of five new schools opening across the city, including the Bronx School of Arts &amp; Exploration and three other schools in Queens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Bronx School of Hip-Hop welcomed its inaugural freshman class of about 100 students.
