Jason Szenes \/ New York Post<\/p>\n<p>They squashed it.<\/p>\n<p>Then the coach warned against complacency. <\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s still the bigger picture to worry about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, we\u2019re talented. No matter what we do on the floor, we\u2019re going to have the ability to score. But you take the regular season and you prepare yourself for the postseason,\u201d Brown said. \u201cIf you just go out there and play the wrong way and win we still probably are going to score because we\u2019re talented and we\u2019ve got a lot of guys that can score. But it\u2019s not going to help us later on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are things that we have to continue to try to get better at in terms of our recognition and stuff like that out on the floor and our pace, get the ball in bounds on a make, not walking the ball up, getting right to our stuff. \u2026 There are a lot of little things. It\u2019s hard to explain to you guys to a certain degree, but our guys know it. We\u2019ll show it to them. But I do think we can be better. And that\u2019s what we should all be striving for is to be better. There\u2019s still a lot of room for us to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latest learning experience\/beatdown commenced with an 8-0 Knicks run after tipoff. <\/p>\n<p>Then they led by 15 at the break, and 37 in the third quarter. <\/p>\n<p>Since the second half of <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/05\/sports\/knicks-show-clearest-sign-yet-of-what-ceiling-can-be-with-impressive-rout-of-timberwolves\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wednesday\u2019s win over the Timberwolves<\/a>, the Knicks have scored 217 points in their past six quarters.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s running smoothly and the Knicks have been especially effective at home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of us got pride,\u201d Towns said. \u201cWe want to have the fans going home smiling and we want to protect home court and continue to give our fans something to cheer for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Josh Hart of the New York Knicks goes up for a shot during the first half.<br \/>\n Jason Szenes \/ New York Post<\/p>\n<p>Towns also had 12 rebounds. <\/p>\n<p>Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby each had 19 points in less than 30 minutes apiece. <\/p>\n<p>Mitchell Robinson played just 16 minutes but his impact was noteworthy \u2014 the Knicks outscored Brooklyn by 40 points when the center was on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Once billed as a rivalry, this interborough contest has lost all its luster, carrying now the juice of a steamrolled grape. <\/p>\n<p>Long gone are the antagonists Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Mikhail Prokhorov. <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhat\u2019s happening on and off the Garden court\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for Inside the Knicks by Stefan Bondy, a weekly exclusive on Sports+.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThank you\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ve been replaced in Brooklyn by a young nondescript squad built to tank by the Teflon Sean Marks.<\/p>\n<p>The Nets (1-9) have sights on the first overall draft pick and are acting appropriately, handing the keys to defensive-averse players like Michael Porter Jr. and Cam Thomas (who was injured for Sunday\u2019s game).<\/p>\n<p>The Knicks had no problems finding open shots or burying them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny time you get wins on the board,\u201d Towns said, \u201cit builds momentum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The only interesting matchup at MSG involved the head coaches, with Brooklyn\u2019s Jordi Fern\u00e1ndez facing his mentor Brown. <\/p>\n<p>The two were together in Cleveland and Sacramento, with Fern\u00e1ndez serving as the understudy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreat young coach,\u201d Brown said of Fern\u00e1ndez. \u201cHe\u2019s got a young team, obviously, so they\u2019ve gotta figure some things out. Any time I get a chance to see him, I always love to see him. But I want to kick his ass.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brown followed up with a drubbing. <\/p>\n<p>The Knicks scored 77 points in the first half, with five players in double digits by the break.<\/p>\n<p>Brown, who had three days off to prepare for the Nets, witnessed his ideal offense develop quickly against the sad-sack Nets.<\/p>\n<p>Karl-Anthony Towns grabs a rebound during the Knicks\u2019 Nov. 9 win over the Nets. Jason Szenes \/ New York Post<\/p>\n<p>Brunson, who also had seven assists, carried the same message as his coach \u2014 against complacency.<\/p>\n<p>The Knicks are in the middle of a seven-game home-stand, with three more remaining at MSG before their next road game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have expectations,\u201d Brunson said. \u201cWe are just looking to get better every single day and with that being said, you can\u2019t just say, \u2018Hey, let\u2019s get better at this.\u2019 It\u2019s about not being complacent and being more fluent in the stuff we run where everything is an instinct and we\u2019re not thinking about what we\u2019re doing. Everything\u2019s a reaction and it comes seamless like that so we\u2019re working towards that. So yeah, the ball\u2019s going through the hoop, but we can be a lot better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Against the Nets, they were more than good enough. <\/p>\n<p>Brunson and the rest of the starters were all pulled before the midway point of the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>An easy night\u2019s work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"As easy as it was supposed to be.
