USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect<\/p>\n<p>By Friday afternoon, the newspaper\u2019s website was led by a handful of stories about the terrorist attacks and the memorial ceremony at Ground Zero. One of the headlines on the homepage read: \u201cFacing Islamophobia, Mamdani Keeps Focus on 9\/11 Victims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Gray Lady blasted Shapiro in return, posting a screenshot of its website on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis misleading statement is nothing more than a disingenuous attempt to seek attention and stoke outrage by misrepresenting The New York Times\u2019s journalism covering the anniversary and commemoration of the Sept. 11 attacks,\u201d the newspaper\u2019s communications team wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Left to right: Bill Hochul, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and New Jersey Gov. Audiences can see for themselves The Times\u2019s coverage now, which features a deep and diverse set of journalism reflecting on a globally significant event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More coverage on the 25th Anniversary of 9\/11:<\/p>\n<p>But Shapiro tore into the newspaper\u2019s defense of its coverage, posting a screenshot of what appears to be the New York Times\u2019 mobile homepage from Friday morning. The third-highest story in the screenshot is one with the headline \u201cIslamophobia Shaped a Generation of Muslim New Yorkers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A headline on the New York Times\u2019 website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre you f***ing kidding me right now?
