Jimmy Kimmel is welcoming Stephen Colbert back to late-night television next week before making a return<\/a> of his own later in the month.<\/p>\n

Fresh off his annual summer break, Kimmel said on Thursday\u2019s \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d that Colbert will soon be his special guest.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will be back in a very big way on Tuesday night, after the Emmys with the one and only Stephen Colbert, who will be making his return to late-night television,\u201d Kimmel said toward the close of the show.<\/p>\n

Colbert ended 11 years<\/a> of broadcasting \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert\u201d on CBS in May. Kimmel immediately offered support to his fellow comic when the cancelation occurred by posting a \u201cF\u2013k you<\/a>\u201d message to his counterpart\u2019s former network.<\/p>\n

Kimmel told Variety in a July interview<\/a> that he asked Colbert to host his ABC show while he was off for the summer, but Colbert declined. Instead, entertainers including Rosie O\u2019Donnell, Jelly Roll, Ike Barinholtz and Tiffany Haddish filled in while he was away.<\/p>\n

Kimmel \u2014 a Brooklyn native \u2014 will be hosting a comeback of his own when he brings his late-night program to the Brooklyn Academy of Music<\/a> at the end of the month. Guests for that week of shows haven\u2019t been announced.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s hosted his \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d for more than 23 years. Reports surfaced<\/a> last week that the show would end after its current contract runs out next May. ABC was quick to shoot down that rumor.<\/p>\n
