Three beloved door attendants <\/a>at a luxury Brooklyn building were allegedly axed from their posts by new management \u2014 sending outraged residents on a crusade to bring them back.<\/p>\n

Nearly all of the tenants of 50 N. 5th St. in Williamsburg have signed on to a petition<\/a> pressuring Rose Associates \u2014 the buildings property and leasing management \u2014 to rehire longtime front desk staffers <\/a>Ganesh, Diamond and Irving.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey knew everybody\u2019s names; they knew the kids\u2019 names; they knew the pets\u2019 names,\u201d said petition organizer Indigo, who declined to give her last name for privacy reasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople would come down in the morning just to hang out with them and catch up, and it just really made the building feel more like a family and more like a home, versus like a big, faceless apartment building,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since the trio\u2019s firing on August 10th, quality of service has declined, multiple tenants told The Post. <\/p>\n

Piles of backlogged packages and an unmanned front desk have become more commonplace\u00a0 \u2013 and management has become increasingly unresponsive, they claimed. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey just don\u2019t care at all,\u201d said Victoria Brito, who has lived in the building since 2022 and helped start the petition. <\/p>\n

The three new staffers hired to replace Irving, Diamond and Ganesh have not been a hit. Multiple residents characterized the new hires as unfriendly and overworked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re all like, \u2018Man, this is weird. Very, very weird,’\u201d Brito said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rose Associates \u2013 who took over the building in mid-2025 \u2013 blasted out an email to residents announcing the trusted trio had been fired to support the \u201clong-term success\u201d of the building, according to an email reviewed by the Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Initially, Rose Associates claimed the dismissals weren\u2019t performance related, but a spokesperson for the group later told local news outlet Greenpointers<\/a> that the changes were \u201cthe result of complaints received from building residents.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Less than 24 hours after the email alert, shocked tenants made a website and petition on the trio\u2019s behalf\u00a0 \u2013 which has received 243 signatures of its 250 signature goal from both current and former tenants \u2014 exceeding the 229 unit count of the building. <\/p>\n

\u201cI really wish I would\u2019ve had an opportunity to say goodbye to them,\u201d said one concerned tenant who has lived in the building since 2018, and declined to give his name out of fear of retaliation from management.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sources close to the matter claimed that Rose Properties offered the fired staffers a severance payout contingent on signing a nondisclosure agreement \u2013 but the group refused.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ganesh, Diamond, and Irving were not members of a hospitality or doormen union. Instead, they were hired by third-party company QCS \u2013 which continues to contract workers to Rose Properties.<\/p>\n

Rose Associates told Greenpointers in a statement that QCS was responsible for the group\u2019s firing. Claiming they \u201cdid not employ these individuals, did not manage their day-to-day schedules, and did not terminate their employment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The claim contradicts two emails that the group sent to tenants.<\/p>\n

\u201cOwnership and management carefully considered this decision before moving forward,\u201d one email read. <\/p>\n

Rose Associates and QCS did not respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment.
