<\/p>\nIt has been exactly 85 years since Coach was founded in New York in 1941 as a family-run workshop. At the time, Coach employed six leather artisans who handcrafted leather wallets, before later specializing in other fashion accessories as well. Experimenting with leather treatments would become one of the most important chapters in the brand\u2019s history. Inspired by the way the leather of baseball gloves becomes softer and more supple with use, Miles Cahn developed a technique that gave leather greater softness and flexibility without compromising its durability. Soon afterward, his wife Lillian Cahn suggested expanding the range, which had previously focused on men\u2019s accessories, to include women\u2019s leather bags. It proved to be a winning move, as the sturdy cowhide bags quickly became a hit.<\/p>\n
Since then, Coach has launched a series of designs that have gone on to become classics. The popularity of styles such as the Tabby and Brooklyn has further fuelled interest in the brand\u2019s vintage pieces, which are now increasingly sought after on resale platforms. To mark the anniversary year, the brand\u2019s creative director Stuart Vevers decided to give these very designs a fresh and highly creative twist in the Spring\/Summer 2027 collection.<\/p>\n

#1 The Brooklyn bag turned inside out<\/p>\n
The Brooklyn bag debuted in the Spring\/Summer 2024 collection and became a hit almost immediately. At first glance, it may seem understated, but its discreet, minimalist design reminded us of bags from the early 2000s, precisely the kind of bag that people were clearly craving again at the time. It certainly helped that the Brooklyn suddenly became the favourite fashion companion of resident trendsetter Bella Hadid. The bag quickly appeared on lists of the most coveted fashion pieces, while interest in the Brooklyn also drew further attention to other Coach styles. In the Spring\/Summer 2027 collection, Vevers presented the Brooklyn in a completely new version. It is no longer quite as minimalist, but it is certainly far more playful and creative. In keeping with the funky birthday aesthetic, Coach unveiled a Brooklyn that looks as though it has been turned inside out, with its interior pocket and the contents of the bag on display, including sunglasses, newspapers, keys and pens, all crafted from the same leather as the bag itself.<\/p>\n
#2 A new version of the Tabby<\/p>\n
The Tabby bag received similar treatment in the new collection for the warmer season. Stuart Vevers reintroduced the archival 1970s design in 2019, and the Tabby soon became one of Coach\u2019s most recognisable styles and one of the defining symbols of the brand\u2019s new era. Its timeless shape, versatility and more accessible price point all contributed to its popularity, and today it is one of the brand\u2019s bestsellers. It is therefore no surprise that Vevers chose to give the Tabby a new interpretation for Spring\/Summer 2027. The new version is fitted with pockets, and the one resembling a coin purse looks particularly interesting. This detail also appears elsewhere in the collection, including on the fronts of garments such as leather tops.<\/p>\n

#3 More brilliant details<\/p>\n
Vevers, of course, did not overlook the other details, decorating both clothing and footwear with confetti motifs. Models carried bags resembling presents, while garments were adorned with brooches shaped like gift bows. Long necklaces with pendants resembling minerals and pocket watches hung around their necks, further emphasizing the collection\u2019s playful birthday atmosphere.
