A once-promising season for Real Salt Lake has gone south, along with the club\u2019s position in the Major League Soccer standings.<\/p>\n
New York City FC beat RSL 2-0 on Saturday night at America First Field in Sandy, extending the Utah club\u2019s MLS winless streak to 11 games.<\/p>\n
The loss leaves RSL at 8-10-5 and in 10th place in the Western Conference, one spot shy of the postseason with 10 regular-season games remaining. The club\u2019s 5-1-1 start to the season is now a distant memory.<\/p>\n
Injuries have played a big part in RSL\u2019s slump; the team listed 13 players on its availability report for Wednesday\u2019s game against the Houston Dynamo.<\/p>\n
New York City got goals from Nico Fernandez (41st minute) and Luighi (62nd minute) in its win Saturday night, and improved to 8-9-8, good for seventh place in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n
RSL is scheduled to return to action against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, Sept. 19 (7:30 p.m., Apple TV). Vancouver, last season\u2019s MLS Cup runner-up, is 14-5-4 and in first place in the Western Conference.<\/p>\n
