NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) \u2014\u00a0 Heavy rain in New York City and other parts of the tri-state area prompts flash flood warnings and a flood watch through noon Sunday. <\/p>\n

The greatest flooding risk is expected through late morning, with rainfall totals between 1.25 and 1.75 inches, with higher amounts possible.<\/p>\n

New York City, southern Westchester, northeast New Jersey and coastal Connecticut are included in the watch.<\/p>\n

Conditions are expected to improve Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

Drivers should avoid flooded streets, use extra caution in low\u2011lying areas and never attempt to drive through floodwater. <\/p>\n
