President Trump did a flyover of the Northwest Stadium aboard Air Force One as he cruised in to attend the Washington Commanders football game and speak at its annual Veterans\u2019 Day half-time service.<\/p>\n
The presidential airplane roared low over the open-air venue as thousands cheered it on from the stands below, with footage from the window capturing the crowd and the plane itself cruising by on the jumbotron.<\/p>\n
\u201cWas that the greatest flyover ever?\u201d Trump said after the plane touched down and he headed to the stadium to take up his place in the owner\u2019s box for Commanders\u2019 clash against the Detroit Lions.<\/p>\n

At halftime Trump took over the ceremonies to swear in a group of new enlisted men and women \u2013 and flashed a small smile as he read \u201cI will obey the orders of the President of the United States\u201d over the stadium sound system.<\/p>\n
Trump was met with a mixture of cheers and boos from spectators, while some players broke out the president\u2019s signature fist-pumping boogaloo to celebrate touchdowns in the endzone.<\/p>\n

The president even called a play during the live television broadcast. <\/p>\n
\u201cI think this is a very important couple of plays. Second and seven, let\u2019s see what happens. Well, that\u2019s alright. Not bad. Good runner,\u201d he said during his third-quarter commentary. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a very big play, don\u2019t you think? They have to get a touchdown, let\u2019s put it differently, they just have to get a touchdown,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Trump was joined in the box by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and was later presented with a framed Commanders jersey bearing his name and the number 47 by team owner Josh Harris.<\/p>\n
The president joined the TV broadcast booth with play-by-play announcer Kenny Albert and analyst Jonathan Vilma. FOX<\/p>\n

Tickets for Sunday\u2019s game sold out after Trump\u2019s attendance was announced,\u00a0according to the National News Desk<\/a>.<\/p>\n The president\u2019s attendance at the capital\u2019s hometown game against the Detroit Lions comes a day after ESPN reported he is keen to see a new stadium being built for the team named after himself.<\/a><\/p>\n Neither the president nor the Commanders have confirmed that report, but White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt didn\u2019t dismiss it when asked.<\/p>\n Air Force One with President Donald Trump on board flies over Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md., Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025.
