(WLOS) \u2014 On Saturday, Sept. 12, a Fletcher resident\u2019s photo was shown in Times Square during the National Down Syndrome Society\u2019s (NDSS)<a href=\"https:\/\/ndss.org\/nyc-buddy-walk-tsv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> annual video presentation<\/a> that kicked off the New York City Buddy Walk.<\/p>\n<p>Vivienne Sprute\u2019s photo was one of the 500-plus photos showing children, teens and adults with Down syndrome from all 50 states and 12 countries during the one-hour video on two screens in the heart of Times Square, according to an NDSS press release. The video was also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NDSS1979\/videos\/1097670613208441\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">livestreamed on Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Sprute\u2019s photo, she\u2019s with her dog Murphy and is wearing a shirt that reads, \u201cMODS ALL DAY.\u201d NDSS and her family add that the first-grader&#8217;s photo was chosen from more than 2,700 entries.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Vivienne Sprute of Fletcher, N.C. The NYC Buddy Walk, held annually in Central Park, is NDSS\u2019s flagship Buddy Walk and brings together thousands of participants to raise awareness, promote acceptance and inclusion, and support the Down syndrome community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"NEW YORK, N.Y.
