Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao<\/a>, the Michelin-recommended New York institution known for its handcrafted soup dumplings and authentic Shanghainese cuisine, is now open in South Plainfield at 4901 Stelton Road.<\/p>\n

Founded in Queens in 2006, Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao has grown from a neighborhood favorite into one of New York City’s most celebrated Chinese restaurants. The restaurant has earned Michelin Guide<\/a> recommendations for nine consecutive years and draws guests from around the world.<\/p>\n

Now, it’s drawing guests to Central Jersey as well.<\/p>\n

One of the defining features of the new location is the show kitchen, where guests can watch Nan Xiang chefs prepare soup dumplings. Every xiao long bao is mixed, rolled, filled and hand-pleated before being steamed to order.<\/p>\n

The menu features many of the dishes that have earned Nan Xiang national recognition, including the Lucky Six Soup Dumplings, a colorful assortment of six soup dumplings with naturally colored wrappers. Varieties include pork; crab and pork; chicken; pork and truffle; luffa, shrimp and pork; and scallop and pork.<\/p>\n

While soup dumplings remain at the heart of the menu, Nan Xiang’s offerings extend beyond the steamer basket.<\/p>\n

The restaurant also serves Shanghainese cuisine alongside regional Chinese specialties, including noodle dishes, wok-fired stir-fries, pan-fried pork buns, scallion pancakes, dim sum favorites, vegetarian dishes and house-made fruit teas.<\/p>\n

Guests can also enjoy traditional breakfast specialties, including fried dough sticks paired with warm soybean milk and Northern-style pastries.<\/p>\n
