Understated yet stylish New York women who frequent Salon 94 on east 89th street, Caf\u00e9 Sabarsky, or the Toteme-Khaite-The Row triangle on the Upper East side, will want to add a downtown destination to their weekend rotation. Dutch womenswear label, R\u00f3he, has planted its flag at 77 Mercer street. It\u2019s a true wardrobing label: the pieces are modern, elegant, and buildable. Inherently minimalist in its aesthetic, each piece still feels emotional, be it in the materiality, the details, or the texture. You may have become familiar with the brand from their strong online presence, if not through our edits<\/a> on Vogue Shopping\u2014the label has exploded since getting its start in 2021. In the early days of supporting the brand, I\u2019d often get stopped in the streets during fashion week by editors, stylists, and buyers asking who was behind a leather jacket or trouser I was wearing. The label has assortments on all of the major online players, though now, you can get to know them on a deeper level, entering the world of R\u00f3he and Amsterdam\u2019s Huis de Vicq right at home in Manhattan.<\/p>\n

When you enter the store off the bustling cobblestone streets of SoHo, you\u2019re transported to a minimalist\u2019s oasis\u2014and you can\u2019t help but whip your phone out for a photo. The front quarter of the store feels more like a gallery space than a retail shop, complete with bespoke woodwork by Dutch DeanWorks stocked with porcelain cups from Japanese brand Time & Style, where customers are offered tea and encouraged to stay a while.<\/p>\n

The space is home to collectible interior design pieces including chairs from Olivier Gagn\u00e8re, white slipcovered Gervasoni Ghost couches, and classic Dutch paintings. Those who stay to try on pieces from the collection are in for a real treat in the dressing rooms. The largest even has a sky light, which for a ground level Manhattan building feels like a real luxury.<\/p>\n

In addition to the brand\u2019s fall\/winter collection displayed on a long rail that trails the left side of the store, the New York brick-and-mortar (its first retail space, mind you) stocks select store-only exclusives, titled Atelier. These include a beautifully constructed leather blazer, lace slip skirt, and a sculptural metallic dress, all made in the Amsterdam HQ from leftover fabrics. The bridal capsule sits in corner, and another, the label\u2019s Heritage collection, which is their take on permanent wardrobing. Accessories, leather gloves to cloches and leopard print pillbox hats, are scattered throughout, alongside a preview of the brand\u2019s footwear, set to debut next spring.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve kept a metal running list of pieces I wanted to try on after viewing the collection earlier this spring in Paris, and the opportunity has finally presented itself. Here\u2019s everything I tried on for fall.<\/p>\n

These trousers do all of the heavy lifting for you with a built in pleated satin waistband. After only a few days of New York Fashion week under our belts, it\u2019s clear the trend isn\u2019t going anywhere anytime soon, making it even a better time to invest in it.
