Get a sneak peek at Broadway’s upcoming rock musical\u00a0Galileo<\/a> with a special video of Joy Woods<\/a> singing “Limited Life” from the Michael Weiner-Zoe Sarnak score. Watch above.<\/p>\n

Performances will begin November 10 at the Shubert Theatre, with opening night set for December 6. Michael Mayer<\/a> is directing, with David Neumann<\/a> providing choreography. The musical\u2014featuring a book by Emmy winner Danny Strong<\/a> (Chess<\/a>) and music and lyrics by Weiner and Sarnak\u2014centers on the historical scientist Galileo Galilei, a pioneering astronomer widely considered to be the father of modern science, along with classical physics, the scientific method, and observational astronomy. Amanda Lipitz<\/a>, Henry Tisch<\/a>, and Jordan Roth<\/a> are producing.<\/p>\n

As previously announced<\/a>, Ra\u00fal Esparza<\/a> will star in the title role, leading the company alongside Jeremy Kushnier<\/a> and Woods. Esparza and Kushnier will be reprising their work from the world premiere production at Berkeley Rep. <\/p>\n

They will be joined by Bradley Dean<\/a> (Chess, The Phantom of the Opera<\/a>), Jordon Lee Garcia, and Javier Mu\u00f1oz<\/a> (Hamilton<\/a>, In the Heights<\/a>). Additionally, Grammy winner Michael Park<\/a> (Dear Evan Hansen<\/a>, Stranger Things) will alternate with Esparza at certain performances. Additional casting will be revealed at a later date.<\/p>\n

Reprising their work from the musical’s 2024 world premiere at Berkeley Rep will be music supervisor and orchestrator Brian Usifer<\/a>, scenic designer Rachel Hauck<\/a>, lighting designer Kevin Adams<\/a>, and sound designer John Shivers<\/a>. Newly joining for the Broadway bow will be costume designer Susan Hilferty<\/a> and video and projection designer Ethan Tobman<\/a>. Casting is by Jim Carnahan<\/a> and Jason Thinger<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Aurora Productions<\/a> is production manager, and ShowTown Theatricals<\/a> is general managing.<\/p>\n
