{"id":346456,"date":"2026-09-14T16:38:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T16:38:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/346456\/"},"modified":"2026-09-14T16:38:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T16:38:13","slug":"buggy-operator-airlifted-after-collision-with-vehicle-in-town-of-orleans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/346456\/","title":{"rendered":"Buggy Operator Airlifted After Collision with Vehicle in Town of Orleans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">TOWN OF ORLEANS, New York (WWNY) &#8211; An Amish buggy operator was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital Saturday night following a collision with a vehicle along County Route 15, according to New York State Police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Troopers responded to the scene at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Sept. 12 after receiving reports of a personal injury crash involving a motor vehicle and a horse and buggy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A preliminary investigation found that a southbound 2004 Chevrolet, driven by 30-year-old Joshua Countryman of La Fargeville, crested a hill and failed to see the buggy traveling in the same lane ahead of him. As Countryman began heading downhill, he spotted the buggy, applied his brakes, and attempted to swerve into the opposite lane.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He was unable to avoid the collision and struck the rear left side of the buggy, causing it to overturn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Countryman was not injured in the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The operator of the horse and buggy was transported via helicopter to Upstate University Hospital for evaluation and has since been treated for minor injuries and released.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">State Police cited Countryman with one traffic ticket in connection with the incident<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WWNY.
