More than 8 million New Yorkers can expect to receive an energy rebate check worth up to $200 in the coming months, according to the governor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
Gov. Kathy Hochul says checks will be mailed out starting next week, Sept. 21, and continue to arrive through December.<\/p>\n
There is no need to apply or sign up, the governor said, with eligibility based on residents’ 2024 tax returns.<\/p>\n
Eligible New Yorkers are those who filed a timely 2024 New York state income tax return; were full-time residents of the state that year; were not claimed as a dependent on another taxpayer\u2019s return; and fall within the income threshold.<\/p>\n
Joint filers with incomes under $150,000 will receive a $200 POWER check, as the governor\u2019s office is referring to them, and joint filers with incomes between $150,000 and $300,000 will receive a $150 check.<\/p>\n
For single filers, those with incomes under $150,000 will receive $100.<\/p>\n
