NYC\u2019s Village Halloween Parade has revealed its 2026 theme, and it is asking New Yorkers to bring their \u201cBody & Soul\u201d to Sixth Avenue this Halloween<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, October 31, the 53rd Annual Village Halloween Parade will once again transform Sixth Avenue into a moving, screaming, dancing gallery of giant puppets, marching bands, performers, and thousands of New Yorkers in costumes that probably took much longer to make than anyone will admit.<\/p>\n

The theme announcement arrives just in time for serious costume planners to begin their annual descent into papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9, hot glue, face paint, cardboard engineering, and whatever elaborate group concept has already overtaken the group chat.<\/p>\n

What \u201cBody & Soul\u201d could look like this year<\/p>\n

The parade has not issued a costume rulebook for interpreting the 2026 theme, and that is exactly the point.<\/p>\n

\u201cBody & Soul\u201d leaves room for the corporeal, the cosmic, the musical, the spiritual, and the completely absurd. <\/p>\n

Think anatomical hearts with a disco pulse, skeletons in sequins, giant moving hands, guardian angels, possessed marionettes, human mood rings, jazz-age ghosts, and group costumes that turn \u201csoul\u201d into a full-scale dance party.<\/p>\n

None of those are official costume instructions, obviously. They are simply proof that the theme has enough range for New Yorkers to take it in wildly different directions, which has always been the Village Halloween Parade\u2019s real superpower.<\/p>\n

How to join the parade<\/p>\n

Costumed marchers can join the lineup at\u00a0Canal Street and Sixth Avenue\u00a0between\u00a06:30 p. and 9 pm\u00a0on Halloween night. <\/p>\n

The parade begins at 7 pm, and participants are released onto the route in timed groups, so do not expect to simply stroll in at the last second.<\/p>\n

The parade\u2019s directions are very clear: only people in costume can march. Organizers recommend meeting friends a block or two away from the route, then arriving together, since the crowd and cell-service chaos can make reunions difficult. <\/p>\n
