SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State cross country opened its 2026 season in impressive fashion Friday night, placing five scorers inside the top eight to capture the team title at the Queen City After Dark at Allison Sports Town.

\nThe Bears finished with 28 points to lead the 13-team field, finishing 44 points ahead of runner-up Rockhurst (72). Drury placed third with 126 points, followed by John Brown (135) and Central Missouri (139).
\n\u00a0
\nSenior Ella Cronhardt<\/a> paced Missouri State with a third-place finish, completing the 5K course in 17:38. Junior Riley Bryan<\/a> crossed just one second later in fourth at 17:39, giving the Bears two runners among the top four.
\n\u00a0
\nSenior Tabitha Fox<\/a> followed with a sixth-place finish in 17:51, while sophomore Elsa Henry<\/a> crossed seventh in 18:00. Freshman Makenna Madetzke<\/a> completed Missouri State’s scoring five in her collegiate debut, placing eighth in 18:05.

\nJunior Amy Gottfredson followed in ninth place, crossing the line in 18:06.
\n\u00a0
\nMissouri State’s depth continued throughout the field as all 12 Bears finished among the top 24. Senior Britta Foust<\/a> placed 15th in 18:43, followed by freshman Elizabeth Arenas<\/a> in 17th at 18:46. Sophomore Kaitlyn Hatley<\/a> finished 19th in 18:50, and senior Lena Singleton<\/a> crossed 20th in 18:52.

\nSophomore Emilee Brusselaars finished 23rd in 19:02, while freshman Madilynn Conklin rounded out the Missouri State lineup in 24th with a time of 19:07.

\nThe victory gave the Bears a team title in their season-opening meet and capped Missouri State’s lone home appearance of the 2026 cross country season.

\nMissouri State will return to action Sept. 25 at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo.<\/p>\n
