A grandmother was found dead with a suspicious head wound on a couch in her Brooklyn apartment this week after her concerned son called the cops to check on her, authorities and sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The unidentified 59-year-old woman was discovered face-down on the sofa around 9:30 a.m. inside the apartment on 79th Street near Third Avenue in Bay Ridge, according to cops and law enforcement sources.<\/p>\n
Members of the NYPD\u2019s Emergency Service Unit made the grisly discovery after the woman\u2019s son called for a wellness check, the sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The woman \u2013 who neighbors say had two sons and two granddaughters \u2013 was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS workers, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Foul play is suspected in her death, according to the sources.<\/p>\n
Several hours after the body was discovered, the woman\u2019s husband was taken into custody about two miles away at 52nd Street and Seventh Avenue in Sunset Park, where the victim\u2019s son had tracked him, the sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Multiple specialized cops responded to pull him from his car, where he had barricaded himself, the sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It had not been determined by Tuesday what \u2013 if any \u2013 role he played in his wife\u2019s death, the sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Neighbors were stunned to hear about the suspicious death.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey live in front of me and I didn\u2019t know anything at all. I never heard any commotion coming from over there, only the dog,\u201d said Sou Heir, 56, who said it\u2019s not unusual to hear the couple\u2019s pooch barking. \u201cNobody knows what happened except the dog.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was good. She was good also,\u201d Heir added. \u201cThey looked like they were in love\u2026..but nobody knows what happens behind the doors.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel they were good neighbors, I don\u2019t know what happened. We are sad.\u201d<\/p>\n
Neighbor Laura Colatraella, a retired attorney, said she last saw the woman Friday or Saturday night walking her golden labradoodle, a gift from her son.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She last saw the man earlier last week, looking for a delivery package when he came home from work.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI never saw any problems with them. I never saw them fighting, you know, any dispute,\u201d \u00a0Colatraella said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Colatraella described the victim as a hard-working home health care worker who often worked six or seven days in a row, including some overnight shifts.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe had a really sweet personality \u2013 very, very kind, very sweet, nice and friendly to everyone,\u201d the retiree said. \u201cIt was very easy to talk to her, we talked a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n
