The answer was a qualified \u201cno.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While Jeffries sponsored the legislation between 2013-21, he is no longer a co-sponsor, but he did say that Congress needs to figure out how to fix the nation\u2019s broken healthcare system.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2025\/S3425\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u201cNew York Health Act\u201d\u00a0<\/a>is the New York equivalent of Medicare for All. While it\u2019s both politically and financially a heavy lift, the Senate sponsor of the bill told Capital Tonight host Susan Arbetter that the bill is \u201cin a good place\u201d in advance of the legislative session.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chair of the Senate Health Committee and bill sponsor state Sen.
