{"id":348208,"date":"2026-09-16T11:02:52","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T11:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/348208\/"},"modified":"2026-09-16T11:02:52","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T11:02:52","slug":"workers-who-rebuilt-after-9-11-honored-at-world-trade-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/348208\/","title":{"rendered":"Workers who rebuilt after 9\/11 honored at World Trade Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of construction workers and cleanup crews worked and volunteered at the World Trade Center after Sept. 11, 2001, around the clock for months, removing tons of debris and helping with the recovery.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, they were honored with a tribute of their own.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Union carpenter Moses Rivera remembers what it was like at the site as if it were yesterday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a disaster, this whole entire block full of dust. The buildings here, windows broken, everything was torn up and everything, firefighters sleeping in the Burger King on the floor, and the Denny\u2019s sleeping on the floor day and night. It was so sad,\u201d Rivera said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rivera was 20 years old when he watched the attacks unfold on television. He said he knew he had the skills to help.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe second day I came down here to volunteer,\u201d Rivera said. \u201cI\u2019ve seen dead bodies, I\u2019ve seen legs, I\u2019ve seen everything.
