New musical\u00a0The Ten\u00a0will receive a private industry presentation in New York City September 16 at Open Jar Studios, presented by Ken Davenport<\/a> and Primary Wave Music<\/a>. The 45-minute\u00a0presentation will include performances of select songs.<\/p>\n

The Ten\u00a0reimagines\u00a0the Moses story through the lens\u00a0of two Black sisters in modern-day Chicago, blending Biblical inspiration with contemporary\u00a0questions through an original score channeling\u00a0gospel, pop, and hip-hope as a force of liberation and spiritual awakening.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With music and lyrics by Emily Phillips (the songwriter for songs from Florence + the Machine and Nicole Scherzinger<\/a>) and Future Cut (music producers for Rihanna, Shakira, and Dua Lipa), The Ten will feature a book by Nambi E. Kelley (Peacock’s Bel Air). Tony winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson<\/a> will direct.<\/p>\n

The presentation will feature performances by\u00a0Samantha Marie Ware<\/a>, Amber Iman<\/a>, Ephraim Sykes<\/a>, Jeannette\u00a0Bayardelle, Mehry Eslaminia<\/a>, Dylan S. Wallach<\/a>, Dominique Skye Turner<\/a>, Danyel Fulton,\u00a0John Clay III<\/a>, Jon-Michael Reese<\/a>, Thabitha Moruthane, Nicholas Ward<\/a>, and Helen Marla\u00a0White.<\/p>\n

The production team will include general manager Bryan McCaffrey<\/a>, associate producer\u00a0Jonathan Hogue<\/a>, assistant director Timothy Johnson, music director Ryan Cantwell<\/a>, music supervisor Sonny Paladino, associate music director Evan Trotter-White, sound design by\u00a0Shannon Slaton<\/a>, production stage manager Kamra A.
