{"id":348334,"date":"2026-09-16T14:16:50","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T14:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/348334\/"},"modified":"2026-09-16T14:16:50","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T14:16:50","slug":"new-york-state-launches-new-measles-database","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/348334\/","title":{"rendered":"New York state launches new measles database"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York state has launched a new <a href=\"https:\/\/health.ny.gov\/diseases\/communicable\/measles\/data.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">measles database<\/a>, which\u00a0keeps track of cases in your area.<\/p>\n<p>Health officials say there has been an increased number of reports in rural areas.<\/p>\n<p>Officials also suggest parents have children vaccinated against measles, especially if you are traveling to any high-risk areas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Under the leadership of Governor Hochul, we are working closely with local health departments and regional partners to track and contain this recent uptick in measles cases,&#8221; State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald said. &#8220;Measles is highly contagious and can cause serious illness and hospitalizations, yet it is effectively prevented with up-to-date measles immunizations. I urge New Yorkers to check their vaccination status and make sure that they and their families are protected. I also ask health providers to be prepared to diagnose and treat any measles they encounter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the database, there have been more than 50 confirmed cases in New York this year.<\/p>\n<p>The database will be updated Tuesdays and will display cases through the prior Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"New York state has launched a new measles database, which\u00a0keeps track of cases in your area.
