Northern New York man arrested for attempting to solicit sex from minors, police say<\/p>\n

A North Country man has been charged with attempted rape and attempted enticement of a minor after police said he tried to solicit underage children online.<\/p>\n

The Ticonderoga Police Department arrested Clarence Russell, 75, of Paul Smiths, following an investigation into alleged online solicitation of minors. Russell was arrested on Sept. 5, according to a press release distributed by the department on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Police said Russell had been communicating online with people he believed to be underage children in an effort to arrange sexual encounters.<\/p>\n

An investigation is ongoing.
