\u201cWe have listened intently as a worker in Chipotle whispers the bathroom code to another paying customer,\u201d Mamdani said at Queens press conference Wednesday, referencing an all-too-familiar situation for city slickers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have bought that nine-dollar latte, and all of us have, at some point or another, just turned around and had to go home,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

New Yorkers said more places to go \u2014 on the go \u2014 were desperately needed.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, I\u2019ve been in places where I held my bladder for how long, and I felt like I was gonna explode and just had to go think it\u2019s this long overdue,\u201d 50-year old Bed-Stuy resident Jeffery Sidnez told The Post at Columbus Park in Brooklyn \u2014 which will house one of the new toilet trailers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s a positive thing if it\u2019s going to be well monitored,\u201d said another Brooklyn resident, Debra S. <\/p>\n
The pricey Johns will be delivered by Throne Labs \u2013 a modular toilet company that submitted the winning proposal to construct, install and maintain the units for one year.<\/p>\n

The toilets are ADA accessible and come complete with running water, climate control and baby changing tables. They will be open for use from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily \u2014 and can be opened via phone text message, QR code, the Throne Bathroom Network app or a tap card.<\/p>\n
The Throne bathroom app will give New Yorkers real time cleanliness ratings, find restrooms and unlock doors. Those without a smart phone can get a tap card from \u201clocal community partners\u201d that are yet to be announced.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI understand the idea of doing it, but I just don\u2019t think it\u2019s a good idea or that safe or sanitary,\u201d said 22-year-old Bensonhurst resident Adrianna Mendizabal, who said she\u2019d only use the toilets as a last resort and still worries about homeless New Yorkers sleeping in the pods.<\/p>\n
Throne Labs Chief Operating Officer Jessica Heinzelman also noted the bathrooms have a cut off time for use \u2013 preventing New Yorkers from overstaying their welcome in lavatories. The pods give a warning with flashing lights if the user hasn\u2019t exited in about four minutes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe door eventually will open, letting that user know well in advance, and that\u2019s actually saved lives in other locations where someone is having a medical emergency, contrary to your traditional public restroom,\u201d Heinzelman said.<\/p>\n
City Hall said the roll out will take place in the following areas across the City: <\/p>\n

Brooklyn:\u00a0Columbus Park, Milestone Park, Fulton Street and Truxton Street and Avenue C Plaza<\/p>\n
Queens:\u00a0Astoria Boulevard South and 31st Street, Northern Boulevard and 31st Street, Northern Boulevard and 54th Street and 34th Avenue and 64th Street<\/p>\n
Manhattan:\u00a0Cooper Square, Malcolm X Plaza, Delancey Street and Suffolk Street and Plaza Alianza Dominicana<\/p>\n
