ALBANY, NY- New York State is making strides forward to shake up the requirements for high school students to graduate.<\/p>\n

According to state government figures, the standard concept of passing a certain number of Regents exams will be no more.<\/p>\n

Starting with students graduating in 2028, the state is planning to offer a single state high school diploma.<\/p>\n

Regents exams will still exist, but the idea of having students pass a certain number of them to graduate will be done away with.<\/p>\n

Rather, under the new proposed system, students in New York would have the options to demonstrate their knowledge through multiple avenues, including skills needed for either college, career and civic duties.<\/p>\n

The new system is aimed to be implemented fully for students entering the ninth grade come the 2029 \u2013 2030 school year.<\/p>\n

It is reported that these new graduation requirements will be phased in for students currently in high school.<\/p>\n

You may remember when the state first adopted these new graduation guidelines last year.<\/p>\n
