{"id":349408,"date":"2026-09-17T17:10:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-17T17:10:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/349408\/"},"modified":"2026-09-17T17:10:07","modified_gmt":"2026-09-17T17:10:07","slug":"news-12-bronx-house-passes-bill-to-classify-xylazine-as-schedule-iii-controlled-substance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/349408\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Bronx | House Passes Bill To Classify Xylazine As Schedule Iii Controlled Substance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday aimed at helping law enforcement crack down on the dangerous sedative xylazine.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The Combating Illicit Xylazine Act would classify the drug as a Schedule III controlled substance.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The classification would give law enforcement additional tools to target traffickers while preserving access for lawful use by veterinarians, farmers and ranchers.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Xylazine is an animal tranquilizer, also known as \u201c<a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/white-house-lays-out-effort-against-animal-sedative-xylazine-but-doesnt-call-for-new-restrictions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tranq<\/a>\u201d on the illegal drug market.
