Police in New York City are investigating after a school bus slammed into a residential building near Brooklyn on Thursday morning, Sept. 17.<\/p>\n

Just after 7:20 a.m., emergency crews responded to a 911 call for a motor vehicle crash in the city’s Crown Heights neighborhood, the New York Police Department told USA TODAY.<\/p>\n

Arriving officers learned that the school bus, which they said was operated by a 65-year-old man, was traveling westbound on Eastern Parkway, a major tree-lined thoroughfare in the city, when it stuck the facade of a building.<\/p>\n

Police are investigating after a school bus crashed into a building in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights. The driver was not seriously injured and there were no children on the bus at the time of the crash, according to the NYPD.<\/p>\n

The driver refused medical treatment at the scene, according to police.<\/p>\n

Firefighters said they evacuated the residential building as a precaution and notifind the city’s Department of Buildings, which responded to the scene to evaluate the structure.<\/p>\n
