{"id":349486,"date":"2026-09-17T18:44:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-17T18:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/349486\/"},"modified":"2026-09-17T18:44:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-17T18:44:14","slug":"mamdani-helps-repair-citys-200000th-pothole-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/349486\/","title":{"rendered":"Mamdani helps repair city&#8217;s 200,000th pothole of the year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The city repaired its 200,000th pothole of the year on Thursday with help from Mayor Zohran Mamdani.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani, city Department of Transportation crews and Ra-mel \u2014 a 311 worker who handles pothole complaints \u2014 teamed up to fix a pothole on Troutman Street in Bushwick, the mayor\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor has made fixing potholes one of his priorities during his time in office so far, <a href=\"https:\/\/ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/traffic_and_transit\/2026\/04\/10\/mamdani-to-launch-city-s-fourth--pothole-blitz--on-saturday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">launching several citywide \u201cpothole blitzes\u201d<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>He helped repair the city\u2019s 100,000th pothole of the year on Staten Island in April, his office said in a release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou only have to ask a New Yorker what a pothole feels like, and every time they feel that pothole, they also feel a diminishing of faith in city government,\u201d Mamdani said Thursday. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd so for us, today, we\u2019re filling in the 200,000th pothole here over the course of nine months,\u201d he added. \u201cThese are 200,000 potholes filled in by incredible city workers that are making it a little bit easier for New Yorkers to live in this incredible city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New Yorkers can report potholes to the city by calling 311 or visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.311.nyc.gov\/article\/?kanumber=KA-01082\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the city\u2019s online 311 portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The city repaired its 200,000th pothole of the year on Thursday with help from Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
