The goal is to make New Yorkers aware of the flood risks where they live and work and to make evacuation plans.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">It comes amid hurricane season and National Preparedness Month, with <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/newyork.news12.com\/flooding-lingers-in-brooklyn-neighborhoods-after-heavy-rain\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">flooding as recent as last week<\/a>. The campaign will be featured on 1,800 DSNY trucks across the city.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cAnything that New Yorkers can do to prepare in advance means that they&#8217;re ready to go if disaster strikes,&#8221; said NYC Sanitation Commissioner Gregory Anderson.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/finder.nyc.gov\/hurricane\/locations?mView=map\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">website has a tool that<\/a> breaks the city down into zones 1-6, with 1 being the areas most likely to be evacuated. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">From there, it lists nearby evacuation sites. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">NYCEM Commissioner Christina Farrell says preparedness is vital.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cForty-three New Yorkers lost their life in Hurricane Sandy. And so, you know, that&#8217;s definitely something to be prepared for. But, like, you mentioned, we also see flash flooding. We see other events.
