To the Editor:<\/p>\n
I\u2019m supporting Shelle Page for mayor because I know her, I\u2019ve worked with her and I\u2019ve seen how much she cares about Brooklyn Park.<\/p>\n
I have known Shelle for several years, and I know her as a champion for Brooklyn Park, a community connector, a mortgage lady and, most importantly, a friend. I first met Shelle through a local networking group, where I quickly discovered one of her superpowers: connecting people. She sees possibilities in people. She recognizes what they have to offer and seems to know exactly who they need to meet. She doesn’t just help build relationships. She builds people up and strengthens communities.<\/p>\n
I have also worked with Shelle professionally. As a Realtor, I have referred clients to her for mortgages, and I have watched her turn some very tough situations into success stories. She never fails to impress me with her ability to deal with challenging people and difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n
As someone who works with older homeowners, I often struggle to find affordable housing solutions within Brooklyn Park and have been sorry to see them leave our great community. That doesn’t sit well with me. If we truly want Brooklyn Park to be a city for all ages, we need to make sure people have viable options to remain here as they grow older.<\/p>\n
Shelle and I have talked many times about affordable housing (not subsidized housing) and the need for more options for older residents. She and I both agree that the priority is homes, not just housing.<\/p>\n
What makes Shelle truly stand out is how extremely passionate she is about the city of Brooklyn Park. She has been part of this community for nearly 30 years and her love for the city is absolutely infectious. I have attended community events with her and watched her smile like a proud mama saying, \u201cIsn\u2019t Brooklyn Park great!\u201d<\/p>\n
I am proud to call Shelle my friend. I am even prouder to support her for mayor of Brooklyn Park. Brooklyn Park is fortunate to have a compassionate person like Shelle Page willing to step up and lead.<\/p>\n
