A low pressure system will provide the spark to generate the rain.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/9-17-weekend-forecast.png\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tStorm Team 4Storm Team 4<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/9-17-Sunday-radar.png\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tStorm Team 4Storm Team 4<\/p>\n<p>Unlike last week\u2019s flooding rain event, which was concentrated over a few hours in the morning, this Sunday&#8217;s rain is expected to last most of the day, ramping up in the morning and continuing into the evening.<\/p>\n<p>Rain totals will be below three inches nearly the entire tri-state area, with most seeing between half an inch and two inches. It will come from moderate rain that lasts for several hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/9-17-precip-timeline.png\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tStorm Team 4Storm Team 4<\/p>\n<p>This type of rain should not cause flash flooding because it\u2019s spread over a long period of time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, concentrated bands of heavy downpours may set up and deliver significantly higher amounts to isolated locations.
