Kathy Hochul announced Thursday that more than $130 million in state aid will help get lead pipes out of local drinking water systems.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The funding will identify and replace lead service lines across communities in New York.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">It is a part of the state\u2019s Lead Infrastructure Forgiveness and Transformation (LIFT) program, which aims to help pay for projects protecting drinking water without overburdening taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Officials say the projects will safeguard and improve public health in historically underserved areas.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cOur communities shouldn\u2019t have to choose between protecting their drinking water and taking on crushing debt,\u201d Hochul said in a press release. \u201cEvery family deserves clean, safe drinking water at a cost they can afford, and these grants will help us make that goal a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Gov.
