An iconic slice of the New York City<\/a> skyline is up for grabs, with a sprawling $5.79 million home on the 41st floor of the Woolworth<\/a> Building returning to the market.<\/p>\n

The 2,548-square-foot condominium is the highest-floor two-bedroom unit in the building with 2.5 bathrooms and breathtaking views of Manhattan<\/a>. It’s also one of the few units with oversized arched windows.<\/p>\n

Upon entering the stately residence, guests are greeted by solid oak herringbone floors and towering 11-foot ceilings.<\/p>\n

A tasteful balance of solid prewar construction and modern luxury, the space is suited for exceptional entertaining, but is also an incredibly private retreat for a family.<\/p>\n

Listing agent Philip McCarthy<\/a> of Sotheby’s International Realty<\/a> confirmed to Realtor.com\u00ae<\/a> that the current owners invested in cosmetic and design enhancements, including wallpaper, paint, and closet and storage upgrades.<\/p>\n

To the right of the home’s entrance sits an expansive great room. The luxury home is one of 33 units in the distinctive 792-foot-tall skyscraper, which was commissioned by retail magnate Frank W. Woolworth and designed by architect Cass Gilbert.<\/p>\n

From its opening in 1913, the neo-Gothic tower was the tallest building in the city until April 1930, when the 840-foot-tall 40 Wall St. briefly took the title.<\/p>\n

At 1,049 feet, the Chrysler Building took the record just months, only to be surpassed the following year when the Empire State Building rose to 1,250 feet.<\/p>\n

The Woolworth Building would eventually earn the “Cathedral of Commerce” nickname, which was well-aligned with the prolific entrepreneur’s goals in erecting the edifice.<\/p>\n

“My idea was purely commercial,” Woolworth told the Dry Goods Reporter<\/a> in 1912. “I saw possibilities of making this the greatest income-producing property in which I could invest my money.”<\/p>\n

Over the more than a century it’s stood tall, the Woolworth Building has undergone museum-quality restoration to retain its original character while carrying it into the future.<\/p>\n

Now a National Historic Landmark, the Woolworth Tower Residences within the building are an intimate collection with clublike amenities that include a fitness studio, pool, hot tub, and sauna.<\/p>\n

There’s also a lounge, wine cellar, and tasting room. A bike room and on-site parking offer convenience, while a discreet resident-only lobby promises privacy.<\/p>\n

The Woolworth Building was one of five structures Woolworth commissioned in New York City. He tapped C.P.H. Gilbert\u2014not to be confused with Cass Gilbert\u2014for the residences, including the Woolworth Mansion, which is still Manhattan’s largest private residence at 20,000 square feet.<\/p>\n

The limestone mansion was sold in October 2025 after a series of price reductions, and though the final sale price was not disclosed, it was last offered at $49.95 million.<\/p>\n

The nine-bedroom, 11-bathroom home has a whopping three kitchens, with mosaic tilework and stained-glass details present throughout the home. A gym, sauna, library, and glass-enclosed solarium add to the residence’s luxury appeal.<\/p>\n
