A new report by the state comptroller\u2019s office finds mobile sports betting has emerged as New York\u2019s second-largest source of gaming revenue since becoming legal in 2022.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s only second to the lottery.<\/p>\n
But as more New Yorkers place bets on sporting events, there has been a rise in people seeking help for gambling problems, with a reported 8.5% increase in calls to the state\u2019s hotline.<\/p>\n
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on \u201cInside City Hall\u201d Friday to talk more about this report and his reelection campaign.<\/p>\n
He is seeking to fend off a challenge from Republican candidate Joseph Hernandez in November.\u00a0<\/p>\n
