{"id":350788,"date":"2026-09-19T01:52:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T01:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/350788\/"},"modified":"2026-09-19T01:52:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T01:52:14","slug":"illegal-immigrant-rideshare-driver-arrested-in-nyc-sexual-abuse-case-charged-with-rape-in-maryland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/350788\/","title":{"rendered":"Illegal immigrant rideshare driver arrested in NYC sexual abuse case, charged with rape in Maryland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An\u00a0illegal immigrant\u00a0rideshare driver <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/13\/us-news\/nyc-woman-claims-cop-sexually-abused-her-from-her-backseat-while-forcing-her-to-drive\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">accused of sexually assaulting<\/a> a teenage female passenger in Maryland has a history of sex abuse in New York, federal authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>Abdoulaye Dia, of Lanham, Maryland, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/31\/us-news\/convicted-cabdriver-rapist-gurmeet-singh-stripped-of-us-citizenship-15-years-after-assaulting-passenger\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was charged<\/a> with\u00a0first-degree rape, kidnapping, second-degree assault and third-degree sex offense, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Montgomery County Police officers were called to a hospital where <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/29\/us-news\/creep-rapes-12-year-old-girl-inside-nyc-apartment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an underage teen girl<\/a> reported a rape. <\/p>\n<p>She told police she was raped by an Empower rideshare driver.<\/p>\n<p>Dia, a citizen of Guinea, took her to a parking lot in\u00a0Silver Spring, where the alleged assault occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators identified Dia through information obtained from the rideshare app. <\/p>\n<p>He was arrested Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Dia was previously arrested June 10 in New York City for sexual abuse by forcible compulsion, forcible touching of the sexual\/intimate parts of another person, injuring a child less than 17 and sexual abuse without consent, a DHS spokesperson told Fox News.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.50146628;display:block\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"40890389\" width=\"886\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/141634195.jpg\" alt=\"A man with short dark hair and a sparse beard in a white t-shirt.\" class=\"wp-image-40890389\"\/>Empower rideshare driver and illegal immigrant Abdoulaye Dia was arrested and charged with raping a teenage passenger in Maryland after a prior arrest in NYC.
