{"id":350802,"date":"2026-09-19T02:10:16","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T02:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/350802\/"},"modified":"2026-09-19T02:10:16","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T02:10:16","slug":"womans-death-ruled-a-homicide-after-shes-found-in-manhattans-highbridge-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/350802\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman&#8217;s death ruled a homicide after she&#8217;s found in Manhattan&#8217;s Highbridge Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-block-key=\"n20hd\">The city\u2019s medical examiner has ruled a homeless woman\u2019s death a homicide after she was found dead on a hiking trail inside a Washington Heights park with a small puncture wound in her back, police said Friday.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"em02e\">Police identified her as Doris Perez, 41.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"5cpqu\">Officers responded to a 911 call about a person in need of medical attention near West 174th Street and Amsterdam Avenue around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday and found her unconscious and unresponsive inside Highbridge Park, according to the department. EMS workers pronounced her dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"efc6e\">She was found face up on a hiking trail, police officials said. The location is near the Amsterdam Avenue side of the park, a more populated area. Police have not said whether any surveillance cameras cover that section of the trail.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"b2hgp\">Killings are rare in that part of Upper Manhattan.
