BROCKTON, Massachusetts \u2014 The holdout juror who sparked a mistrial<\/a> in the Lindsay Clancy murder case did not allow his Catholic faith to override his judgment that the former nurse was guilty of murder, his brother revealed to The Post \u2014 as he said the family\u2019s life has been turned upside down.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think religion had anything to do with it,\u201d the brother said, disputing claims online.<\/p>\n

The bombshell Clancy trial<\/a> turned national attention to the juror, whom The Post is choosing not to name \u2014 with some labeling him a hero for refusing to find Clancy not guilty, and other jurors claiming he refused to follow the judge\u2019s instructions about \u201creasonable doubt.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe looked at the case, and he made the call,\u201d the brother said. \u201cFor me, that\u2019s how I would do it. I would just listen to the case with all the evidence, and go from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cHis choice was good for some people, but not good for other people.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the attention has also raised questions about the juror\u2019s troubling criminal record following a 2021 arrest for allegedly battering his then-wife over the couple\u2019s crying infant.<\/p>\n

Those charges were dismissed, but in 2025 he was accused of beating the teenage nephew who called police on him during the alleged domestic violence attack, according to court records.<\/p>\n

The juror had a restraining order against him from the nephew at the time he was picked for the Clancy jury \u2014 and it expired during the trial<\/a>, court documents reveal.<\/p>\n

The brother also said that the devoutly Catholic Haitian immigrant clan has been relentlessly hounded by true-crime gawkers and reporters since the juror refused to agree with the 11 others and find Clancy not guilty of murder by reason of insanity<\/a> after she killed her three kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy family cannot leave the house,\u201d the brother said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are leaving notes at my mother\u2019s house. They won\u2019t leave us alone and we don\u2019t know anything,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

\u201cPeople have been calling me like crazy. It\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

None of the family had any idea the last week of mayhem that was headed for them after the case ended in an explosive mistrial on Sept. 4<\/a> \u2014 the juror didn\u2019t tell any of them he was serving on the headline-making case.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t know. That\u2019s why I was shocked,\u201d the brother said. \u201cHe didn\u2019t tell us anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the latest on Lindsay Clancy\u2019s murder trial:<\/p>\n

Clancy, 36, admitted to strangling her three kids<\/a> \u2014 Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan \u2014 with exercise bands and then attempting suicide at their Duxbury home after asking her husband to leave the house on an errand.<\/p>\n

But she claimed the killings were driven by a months-long struggle with extreme postpartum psychosis<\/a>, which she claims was misdiagnosed and not properly treated by doctors.<\/p>\n

Jurors deliberated for nearly a week, with 11 of the 12 taking Clancy\u2019s side \u2014 but the holdout refused to budge.<\/p>\n

A supporter launched a GiveSendGo fundraiser for the juror on Monday, which brought in nearly $190,000 in a matter of hours.<\/p>\n

Claims about the juror\u2019s religious beliefs overriding the judge\u2019s instructions were fueled by comments from prosecutors and their witnesses that explicitly invoked the Catholic idea of \u201cmortal sin\u201d of murder and suicide during the trial \u2014 drawing rebukes from the judge.<\/p>\n

Potential jurors are required to disclose whether they had ever been arrested, charged with a crime or been served a court order \u2014 pertinent disclosures for this particular juror with a history of domestic allegations, as the Clancy case involved the most severe form of domestic violence.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear how the juror answered those questions.<\/p>\n

After the juror\u2019s 2021 domestic violence arrest, his own mother yelled \u201cYou\u2019re evil\u201d while he was hauled away, according to court docs.<\/p>\n

Charges over the incident were later dismissed and the juror divorced his wife, who told NBC Boston she didn\u2019t want to testify for fear of losing custody of her child.<\/p>\n

The ex-wife, who posed for a photo with Boston Mayor Michelle Wu after completing an English language program and enrolling in community college, is studying to become a nurse, one neighbor told The Post.<\/p>\n

Her family said that they are scared of the juror.<\/p>\n

But in 2025 more allegations arose against the juror after he allegedly attacked the same nephew who called police \u2014 with the juror shoving the teen to the ground and hitting him in the face, according to a restraining order.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou ruined my [expletive] life,\u201d the juror reportedly yelled at the teen, according to an affidavit. \u201cYou\u2019ve had this coming your way for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

But others in the juror\u2019s life saw him as a church-going man who was generous.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a really nice guy,\u201d said the owner of a local garage where the juror takes his car for repairs and regularly fuels up. \u201cHe goes to church.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe paid for a lady the other day who couldn\u2019t pay her gas,\u201d the business owner added. \u201cShe said, \u2018I can\u2019t pay.\u2019 And he went right over and paid her bill.\u201d<\/p>\n

And the mechanic shop boss wasn\u2019t surprised to hear his customer was the holdout juror who refused to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity.<\/p>\n

He said the family has now gone into hiding.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis wife \u2014 they just got married \u2014 came by yesterday and asked me to put new wheels on her car,\u201d the owner said.<\/p>\n
