From 2-2, the Royals would go on a 5-0 run to force a Charlotte timeout. Out of the break, Queens continued the momentum, and the Royals were the first to 10.

After an overturned point to cut the deficit to seven, followed by a huge block from Milan Cannon, Charlotte gained some momentum and managed to go on a 9-1 run to take the lead 15-14 and be the first team to reach that 15 mark.

From the 13-all mark, the set would go on to feature five more lead changes until Queens was able to close it out 25-21.

Set Two (Charlotte, 25-17)

It was the Niners’ turn to get out front early, winning eight of the first 12 points. From 8-4, Queens would go on a 4-0 run to tie it at eight-all.

The Niners seemed to find their stride. After a block from Miriam Mushkudiani and Milan Cannon, Mushkudiani stayed hot, earning two kills shortly after the block to help propel Charlotte to a 4-0 run and give the 49ers a five-point lead.

Charlotte stayed strong and was able to close out Set Two, 25-17.

Set Three (Charlotte, 25-23)

After dropping the second set, the Royals refound the groove they had in the first set, gaining an early 9-3 lead to force a Charlotte timeout.

After the Royals gained a comfortable lead, the Niners put Jovana Antic in for the first time this season after coming back from an injury, and her presence was felt immediately. The Niners gained momentum and would go on a 5-0 scoring run to bring it within two points and force a Royals timeout.

From the break, the Niners kept it going, continuing their scoring run, 8-0, to take the lead for the first time in the third set and force Queens to take its second timeout of the set. The Niners would close out their scoring run, 9-0.

The Royals would manage to get back in the set, but the Niners’ offense started to click more and allowed Charlotte to take Set Three, 25-22.

Set Four (Charlotte, 25-23)

After falling behind early, Charlotte’s Sofia Locadia brought the spark the Niners needed, catapulting her team to a 5-0 run to take an early 6-4 lead and force a timeout.

Out of the break, the Royals regrouped and went on a scoring run of their own to regain the lead. The Niners didn’t let the lead get to them, as Charlotte would go on to tie the match at 10-10. From the 10-10 tie, neither team would score more than twice in a row for the remainder of the set.

Charlotte would go on to close out the set 25-23 and secure its first win since August 30.

UP NEXT

Charlotte will be back in action Saturday (Sept. 19) to take on Davidson at Davidson to close out play in the Clash for the Crown before opening up American Conference play next week.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Volleyball (3-7) got back in the win column with a 3-1 victory over Queens (3-8)…

[37
9,24,63,122,124,123
post-351022","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-queens","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-city","tag-nyc","tag-queens","tag-queens-headlines","tag-queens-news
["GET
