THE BRONX (WABC) — Thousands of runners are hitting the streets of the Bronx Saturday morning for the sold-out 2026 New Balance Bronx 10 Mile.<\/p>\n
About 13,000 runners are expected to take part in the New York Road Runners race, which begins at 8 a.m. near Yankee Stadium.<\/p>\n
The race starts on Grand Concourse north of 165th Street, where runners will head north toward Mosholu Parkway.<\/p>\n
At Mosholu Parkway, runners will turn left and head west before making a U-turn before Sedgwick Avenue. They will then continue east on Mosholu Parkway to Hull Avenue, make another U-turn and head west toward Grand Concourse.<\/p>\n
Runners will then turn left onto Grand Concourse and head south to 161st Street.<\/p>\n
From there, they will turn right and continue toward the finish line, crossing River Avenue and the subway overpass before completing the 10-mile race.<\/p>\n
The event brings New York Road Runners back to the borough where the organization got its start. NYRR was founded in 1958 at Macombs Dam Park in the Bronx and now hosts 60 adult and youth races annually, including the TCS New York City Marathon.<\/p>\n
More than a dozen local Bronx run clubs are taking part in this year’s race, including Bronx Burners Run Club, Bronx Sole, Boogie Down Bronx Runners, Run the Neck and Van Cortlandt Track Club.<\/p>\n
“The New Balance Bronx 10 Mile is about so much more than the miles – it’s a commemoration of our genesis, of the essence of the Bronx, and of the people who make this community so special,” said Rob Simmelkjaer, CEO of NYRR.<\/p>\n
NYRR is also hosting the third-annual Boogie Down Kids Run for hundreds of children ages 2 to 18.<\/p>\n
The free event includes a run along Grand Concourse and a field day-style festival in Joyce Kilmer Park. It is one of more than 20 free Rising New York Road Runners youth events held throughout the year.<\/p>\n
