Van Buren, N.Y. \u2014 A jackknifed tractor-trailer in an active work zone on the New York State Thruway in Onondaga County caused a chain-reaction crash involving three other vehicles on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
According to New York State Police, the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Interstate 90 in the town of Van Buren. <\/p>\n
Steven Garpue Nauhn, 38, of Rochester, was driving a 2020 Freightliner westbound in the left lane when he lost control and struck a concrete barrier. The impact pushed the barrier into the eastbound lanes, where three vehicles traveling eastbound were caught in a subsequent crash as they tried to avoid the obstruction.<\/p>\n
Nauhn and one other driver were transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with minor injuries. <\/p>\n
Police say that peed appeared to be a contributing factor in the crash.<\/p>\n
Nauhn was issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Van Buren Town Court at a later date.<\/p>\n
