(WRGB) \u2014 New York State Police have identified the pilot who died following a mid-air collision on Friday in Edinburg.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased operator of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs6albany.com\/news\/local\/possible-plane-collision-under-investigation-in-edinburg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">glider plane<\/a> has been identified as James L. Mozilla, 80, of Saratoga Springs.<\/p>\n<p>According to state police, the investigation determined that Mozilla was flying in the area with a group of gliders when he struck another glider. The contact reportedly caused Mozilla to lose control of his aircraft and crash.<\/p>\n<p>The group of gliders reportedly was assisted into the air by an engine plane that flew out of Saratoga County Airport, and they intended to land at the Piesco Airport in Hamilton County.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration responded to the scene, and both investigations are ongoing, along with an <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NTSB_Newsroom\/status\/2101093460056957274?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">investigation<\/a> by the National Transportation Safety Board.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"EDINBURG, N.Y.
