{"id":351784,"date":"2026-09-20T17:54:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-20T17:54:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/351784\/"},"modified":"2026-09-20T17:54:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-20T17:54:10","slug":"news-12-bronx-legionnaires-outbreak-expands-to-two-more-bronx-zip-codes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/351784\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Bronx | Legionnaires Outbreak Expands To Two More Bronx Zip Codes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The New York City Department of Health (DOH) has expanded its community outreach for a Legionnaires\u2019 disease cluster in the South Bronx to include two additional ZIP codes.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">On Sunday, Notify NYC issued an alert adding 10455 and 10459 after cases were identified within a few blocks of 10456.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The investigation initially focused on parts of Melrose and Morrisania in ZIP codes 10451 and 10456.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The NYC Health Department says 19 people have tested positive in connection with the cluster. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Four people are currently hospitalized, 11 have been discharged, two were not hospitalized and <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/second-death-reported-in-south-bronx-legionnaires-cluster\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">two people have died<\/a>, according to the city&#8217;s latest update.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Anyone who lives or works in the four affected ZIP codes, or who has visited the area since late August, is urged to contact a health care provider immediately if they develop flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">DOH began investigating the cluster on <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/legionnaires-cluster-reported-in-the-south-bronx-1-dead-5-others-diagnosed\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sept. 10 after five cases and one death<\/a> were initially identified in parts of Melrose and Morrisania. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The city will hold a virtual town hall for residents of ZIP codes 10451, 10455, 10456 and 10459 on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Anyone who needs help finding a health care provider can call 311 or 844-NYC-4NYC (844-692-4692).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The New York City Department of Health (DOH) has expanded its community outreach for a Legionnaires\u2019 disease cluster&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":351785,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[38],"tags":[128,9,24,63,129,131,130],"class_list":["post-351784","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-the-bronx","tag-bronx","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-city","tag-nyc","tag-the-bronx","tag-the-bronx-headlines","tag-the-bronx-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/351784","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=351784"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/351784\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/351785"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=351784"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=351784"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=351784"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
